  1. Beginner

5 DAY STARTER COURSE

This is a short, sharp ‘Get up and go course’ designed to cover the basics of the interface, modelling, texturing, lighting and basic animation

2. Intermediate

5 DAY ADVANCED COURSE

This course carries on where the Beginner course left off. We deal with advanced model building, basic cloth and physics and advanced hierarchical animation.

 

3. Character rigging & animation

5 DAY CHARACTER DESIGN AND CREATION

The course covers the rigging of characters and their animation. Furthermore we cover deformers and how to animate them to give expression to characters. This course requires at least a basic knowledge of Maya

 

4. Animation & rendering

5 DAY IN DEPTH COURSE FOR CHARACTER AND OBJECT ANIMATION

In this module we will follow the examples in Richard William’s ‘The Animator’s Survival Kit’ for character animation. For object animation we will go deep into hierarchical structures, motion paths and animating effects and deformers. For rendering we will look at the differences between Pixar’s RenderMan and Maya’s integrated Arnold engine.

5. Physics, dynamics & cloth

5 DAY SPECIAL EFFECTS COURSE

Once the basics of character animation have been acquired adding special effects such as rigid and soft bodies, air and turbulence, cloth and collisions are icing to the animator’s cake.

 

6. Particles & BiFrost

5 DAYS ADVANCED SPECIAL EFFECTS COURSE

There are a great many options for particles in Maya. Even starting with presets requires an understanding of how they work in order to modify and enhance. BiFrost is spectacular. Far and away the best liquid and gas simulation ever.

 

7. Motion graphics & Mash

5 DAY COURSE IN THE CREATION OF RADICAL ANIMATED FORMS

Although rarely used the proceduraly based Mash has enormous potential for video graphics as well as Fine Art evolving artworks. It is also great fun to experiment with. It’s options are many and the results often surprising.

 

8. Integration with Unity games engine

5 DAY COURSE IN PREPARING MAYA GEOMETRY FOR INTEGRATION INTO UNITY

This course necessarily covers the basics of the Unity games engine as well. We will cover the creation of prefabs with varying levels of detail. The course does require sound knowledge of Maya geometry creation and the Blend Shape functions.

 

 

There are 8 separate Maya courses. Each is 5 days in duration. Choose which modules are most relevant.

It is recommended that students take modules 1 and/or 2 initially; then select any optional modules from 3 to 8 if they are required.

£200 DISCOUNTS ARE AVAILABLE BETWEEN THE 11th AND 24th MARCH

PRICES

Each 5 day module costs £800. This includes meals and accommodation (even over week-ends) as well as transportation to and from Perugia International Airport or Camucia/Cortona railway station.
